Corrosion and Protection

The Corrosion and Protection Centre is part of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and has one of the world's largest academic base focussed on corrosion and its control.

Our research activities are diverse, covering multidisciplinary aspects and addressing the material's performance challenges in a wide range of industrial sectors, including oil & gas, aerospace and nuclear. Current projects range from development of new experimental approaches for material characterization, through mechanistic understanding of corrosion and inhibition processes, to advancement of sustainable protective surface treatments and functional coatings.
